Hi Everyone, I have a little time at work so I am finally getting our book club started. I've come up with 6 books that I think are good ones. I don't know whether you would want to do one every month, which is the usual way or one every other month. I'm sure we can come up with 6 more books if you think one a month is better. Everyone will have to let me know. Here are the books:
Tisha by Robert Specht
This one is about a teacher in Alaska and I think it's true.
The Nine by Jeffrey Tobin
This is about the 9 supreme court justices and what they do.
Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver
This is about a girl growing up in Kentucky and setting out on her own, heading to Tuscan, AZ. Fiction
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
This is set in China, and is about a family and what they go through.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith andAnna Quindlen
this is about a young girl growing up at the trun of the century in america.
Cold Sassy Tree ( a lot of "tree" books) byOlive Ann Burns
This has romance in a small southern town at the turn of the century.
Please feel free to add your own to this list and we can vote on them and then assign them to a month. I haven't read any of these they were all recommended at my book club. The Nine is the one we are reading in Septembe and Tisha we are reading in January.
I hope to hear back from you, either on the blog or on the phone. Love to all. MOM

Mom,
I'm glad that you took the initiative to get the book club going! I think it would be great to do one book a month, but maybe we can see how it goes and if we're too busy then we can switch to every other. All of those books looked interesting to me. I have actually read The Good Earth and it is one of my favorite books! Soooooo good! I would love to read it again and hear what you guys think about it. Maybe we can do a conference call and decide on one for next month?
Love you,
Shell
I think that the one about the supreme court justices sounds interesting and I also think that "Cold Sassy Tree" and "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" sound good. I like the books that are set in a different time period! Ok Steph it's your turn now and Lauren!
