Catching up!!!

Continuation of trip back east:


This is Sunday morning. We went into DC to find our own Chase Larsen, missionary from our ward serving in DC. This is the ward bldg. On either side are houses. Probably with only about 6 feet inbetween.

Then on to the BIG APPLE!!! We drove for about 4 hours, through a billion toll gates and a lot of money later to arrive at our hotel in New Jersey. This hotel was the most expensive part of the whole trip! But it was really nice. We found we could catch the bus into the city right in front of the hotel. The first thing we did was to find Radio City Music Hall. It was close to where we got off the bus. Then some people wanted us to take their picture and they told us that the Grammy (I think that's right, the ones for Broadway?) Awards were going on there that night and all the actors were arriving. So, of course we went right over and pushed our way into the crowd.

We saw Brook Shields and Robert Lithgow. But then who should appear on the scene? DANIEL RADCLIFF!! He was so short that it was hard to see. Steven didn't care about seeing him so he put Lauren on his shoulders. We were directly across the street from him. It was pretty AMAZING!!! I think it was my most favorite part of the whole trip!

Time for dinner. We found this place where we had traditional NY pizza!

Then it was a walk through Time Square. The M&M store!

Steven is starving? He was so cute and bought me an ice cream cone while we were here!

This was our last day(sad!). We went to the Empire State Bldg. before driving back to Maryland to fly home. As you can see the view is incredible. We had gone there the day before but luckily the guide told us the top was in the clouds before we paid to go up. So we waited. I'm so glad we did!

I guess that's all the pictures from ourBIG TRIP! It was so much fun and we will always remember sharing all those expeiences together.

Now for the trip to see Michelle and Tyler in Pleasanton CA. I can't tell where this picture was taken but I thought it was cute!

I had soo much fun staying with Michelle and Ty. They are the perfect hosts and made sure I felt like a princess. I had a chance to see where Ty works and some of the buildings his company owns. He's probably their favorite employee because he loves his work so much! Thanks for the wonderful visit!

Next is Lauren leaving to go back to BYU(sad). You can't believe how full this car was! Luckily we got Nathan Larsen to take some of Lauren's stuff! Thanks Nate! Bro Charles was nice enough to give Lauren a "beginning of the school year" blessing before they left. Aren't we lucky to have such good friends!

On September 11 Steven pass his Eagle board of review! WOW! Steve, what an accomplishment! He worked sooo hard all summer on somewhere between 3-5 merit badges and of course the Eagel project itself! Way to go Steve!!

We didn't want to buy new scout clothes so he wore the ones he got back in 8th grade! Ha!

Birthday time for Steve This was his "GOLDEN" birthday. If you don't know what that means, it's when you turn the same age as the day of the month your bithday is on, hence, Steve turned 18 on Sept 18, 2008!! I can't believe he is that old! Where did my little boy go?

He still likes toy cars, though!

Well, I guess that catches me up for now. I love looking at the posts you all make, so make them more often,OK? I'll be visiting Brittany's family and Lauren in October, so look for more pictures to come!! Love you all. MOM

Recipes needed!!!!!

I am trying to put together a recipe book that has simple things that I can make for my family before I go to work. So please, everyone send me your favorites! Also I am looking for some really fun and inexpensive ways to decorate my house for the upcoming holidays, so if you have any ideas let me know!

We measured Gage and Gaven today, Gage is 41.5 inches, and Gaven is 33 inches. They have gotten really big this summer. I can tell the biggest differences in Gaven. He is saying new words everyday. He has also started to sing. His first song he learned was, of course, Bob the Builder! He also loves Popcorn Popping. Gage started preschool last Tuesday and loved it! A few of us in my ward are actually doing it and rotating houses every week. It's called Joy School if any of you have heard about it. I only have to teach once every 6 weeks or so. I just can't believe he is already big enough to do this. I am excited to get to know the mom's better and then we can have more play dates for Gage.

Happy 24th Of July!!

OK, so normally I feel like most of us skip over this holiday, since we're not in Utah and no one else celebrates it, but this year, with Mom doing a primary activity it's been more on my mind. I also realized it was probably more on every one's mind, since Laur and Steve have been helping Mom, and Shells at girls camp where they're probably doing something and Britts in Utah. So anyway, I have been trying to start doing some geneology work and I found some info on our very own pioneer ancestor. I realize some of you may have already known this, but I didn't and I thought it was neat, so I decided to share it. I knew that we must have had some pioneer ancestors, since our family is well rooted in Utah, but I never knew any real stories. So here's one I found out about. Grandma Flandro's maternal grandfather, Charles William Symons was born in London, England on June 17, 1845. I know he came over, but have yet to find a date or how or who with, but he definitely came over to the US sometime before age 19. At 19 he and his mother joined the Warren S. Snow Company of pioneers who were traveling to Salt Lake City. He was a teamster, and he drove a wagon,which provided for the fare and board of he and his mother Sarah Elsey Symons. They left Wyoming, Nebraska (which is on the west bank of the MO river about 40 mi south of Omaha) somewhere between the 13-17 of August 1864 and arrived in the valley on November 2, 1864. There is an autobiographical excerpt that I found that he wrote of his experience. There are also various articles written in magazines and books on him, but I haven't figured out how to access them without going to the history museums in Salt Lake or Provo. But I'm hoping there is a way, because I still have not been able to find out a lot of info on his wife Arzella Whitaker which he married four years after his arrival in SLC. Anyway, it was a lot of fun to hear his account and to learn more about one of our pioneer ancestors. 4th of July and Gage

Half Marathon

Ok, so I know some of you have already heard this idea that I have been concocting, but I thought I'd make sure and post so everyone knows about it and that all are invited to participate/attend. I have decided to train for the St. George half marathon. It is on Saturday January 19th at 9:00am in St. George Utah. I have discussed it with some of the fam and it sounds like most are pretty excited. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to have as many of us there as we can. Shell suggested making t-shirts that we can all wear that say something to do with Scoville Family, and I thought that would be so fun for us to all race if we can. Now, I know some of us are not really runners (me included) but we have a little over six months to train, so we should have plenty of time. Also, there is going to be a 5k the same day, I believe at the same time, and so maybe some could do that if they're not feeling up to the half marathon. Just so everyone knows, the half marathon is 13.1 miles and the 5k is 3.1 miles. So, hopefully everyone can participate somehow, and if not, we will definitely need some cheerleaders cheering us on. So, I have talked to Jon, Shell, and sort of Steve (mom talked to steve, but i'm calling him today since he doesn't really check the blog!). All are interested. So let me know if anyone else wants to come or participate. Oh, and Shell says to count Ty in for at least attending. There is a link to the page giving the details of the races.
